Graduation 2014

This Tuesday we said good-bye to another cohort of animation and visual effects graduates.

As always these are bittersweet occasions when we say goodbye and good luck to the students that we have worked alongside for the last three years.  One by one they walk up onto the stage in their caps and gowns, shake the hand of the Vice Chancellor, and collect their certificates. It’s a poignant moment and a reminder of how hard they have worked and how far they have come since joining us as fresh faced first years in 2011.

Many of this year’s cohort are already well on their way to securing successful careers within the animation and VFX industries. Yasmin Down has been working at TT Games since May this year. Connor McKee is working remotely as a 3D artist for Excamedia, who are based in the Netherlands. Alex Beadle is working for HeadcastLab, an interactive app design company who are based in the Tremough Innovation Centre at the Penryn campus. Alex Barnes and Jake Teal are amongst the first successful applicants on Falmouth University’s Alacrity program; this is a graduate scheme that supports and incubates new businesses in digital gaming, and leads to a Masters Certificate in Business Entrepreneurship. Joshua Bainbridge and Lexi Lewis are continuing their animation studies: Josh is about to start on the masters course in Computer Animation at the National Centre for Computer Animation at Bournemouth University, and Lexi is off to the University of the Creative Arts in Farnham to join the Masters Animation Course there.

It has been a joy to teach and work with the students in this cohort this last three years. We wish all of our graduates the very best of luck, and hope that they all go on to have successful and rewarding careers.
